Our UNISON Branch is Proud to Support Black History Month

The Croydon UNISON Branch is proud to be sponsoring this year’s Black History Month events at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, in partnership with our Staff Race Equality Network and colleagues across the organisation.

As a union committed to fairness, equality, and inclusion, we are delighted to support activities that celebrate the rich contributions of Black staff and communities, and that promote understanding and dialogue around race and equality in the workplace.

Black History Month is a vital opportunity to recognise the achievements and resilience of Black people throughout history, including those whose stories have too often been overlooked. It is also a time to reflect on the ongoing challenges faced by Black communities and to renew our commitment to anti-racism and equity in all areas of working life.

UNISON has a long-standing commitment to racial justice and proudly supports Black History Month as part of our year-round work to challenge racism and promote equality. We believe that celebrating Black history is not just about the past—it’s about shaping a fairer future for everyone.

We encourage all staff to take part in the events and conversations happening throughout October and to explore UNISON’s national resources for Black History Month, available here:

Together, let’s honour the legacy, celebrate the culture, and continue the work toward racial equality.
