Green UNISON Week is here!
This week, our branch joins trade union members across the country in Green UNISON Week — a dedicated time to raise awareness, take action, and push for greener public services and workplaces. Green UNISON is UNISON’s environmental campaign, and Green UNISON Week is an opportunity for branches to show their support, organise events, and engage members in climate action.
Why Green UNISON matters
-
The climate emergency is already having real impacts on communities, public services, and jobs.
-
As a union, we believe climate action must be fair — it should protect workers, essential services, and communities, not leave them behind.
-
Green UNISON isn’t just about awareness — it’s about bargaining, campaigning, influencing employers, and embedding sustainability into the heart of public service delivery.
-
2026 is being framed as UNISON’s Year of Green Activity, and the momentum starts now.
2026 UNISON Year of Green Activity
In 2026, UNISON is launching a bold focus on environmental action: the Year of Green Activity — or UNISON YoGA. This isn’t just a slogan. It’s an invitation for every branch, workplace, and member to engage, campaign, and bargain for greener public services and a fair transition.
From webinars and articles to local branch actions, there will be lots of ways to get involved — and support will be available for branches to lead on workplace change.
